New Egham Singers

Formed early in 2009 as a result of a ‘Learn to Sing’ course, New Egham Singers has quickly filled an apparent gap in the local music scene. Offering the chance to sing popular, tuneful music there are already 60 singers meeting each week under the expert musicianship of Guy Bunce (www.guybunce.co.uk) and his accompanist Charlotte Roland.  There are no auditions or other pre-requisites, just the wish to make music, and have fun doing so.

Guy takes into account the very mixed abilities of his singers and there are even rehearsal tapes available to assist those struggling with the notes (those funny dots and squiggles that no normal person understands, but seem to make sense to musicians.

The choir is still in its formative period, but the next 12 months will see New Egham Singers performing a concert at St John’s Egham on 4th December. This will include pieces by Andrew Lloyd Webber, the popular gospel number This Little Light of Mine, as well music appropriate to the ‘nearly Christmas’ period.

In 2010 NES will return to St Paul’s Egham Hythe, venue for their first ever public charity concert earlier this year, for another charity concert, featuring music such as Take These Wings, Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves (Verdi), I Dreamed a Dream, You Raised Me Up, and Steal Away.   Finally in June New Egham Singers join with their sister choir, Egham Choral, for their sell-out concert picnic in the grounds of TASIS School in Thorpe.

Whether you are an experienced singer wishing to sing lighter, tuneful music, someone returning to singing after a gap of many years, or a complete novice who just fancies having a go – New Egham Singers is the choir for you !
