Dear NES and EC members,

When New Egham Singers was first set up, I was approached by a number of members from NES EC and Voices Anon regarding running a ‘learn to read music’ course.  I always promised that I would survey the choirs to see what the best system of doing this would be.  I am proposing running a ‘learn to sight-read’ course outside of rehearsals for people that are interested in learning to read music; this will of course be of benefit for anybody who would like to know more about what the dots on the page mean.  Naturally someone who reads music will find rehearsals a lot easier and will be better prepared to practise pieces at home with instruments or rehearsal tracks.   I offer this for people wanting to improve their musical skill and develop their ability to read from score.

The course I plan to offer will take people to the level of Grade 1 theory over six weekly sessions focusing on the skills that will support sight singing.  Further courses with then be on offer for students wishing to pursue music reading to Grade 5 level.  Classes will be held in the local area (probably Englefield Green) and classes will last 1 ½ hours.  The cost of the course will be in the region of £25-30 depending on uptake.

If you are interested, please complete the form and return it to me either through NES or via email ( guybunce@hotmail.com ).
