About us

Egham Choral sings a wide range of music, from classic and modern choral works to fun short pieces. We organise regular post-rehearsal drinks and outings. Our rehearsals are on Monday evenings at 7.30pm.

For term and concert dates please see here.

Egham Choral’s been making music in the Egham and Runnymede area for nearly 70 years and we’re a registered charity as part of Egham and District Choral Society (Registered Charity 277588).  We aim to celebrate music together by performing at least three concerts a year. The spring concert is usually the highlight of our year and in 23-24, we sang Handel’s Messiah in December 23 and Brahm’s Ein Deutsches Requiem in April 24. We are accompanied in these concerts by professional musicians and soloist. Our summer concert is mixed (everything from McDowall’s Ave Maris Stella ->Autumn Leaves -> Mary Poppins medley in July 24 ). You can see the full range of larger works performed here.

Egham Choral was founded in 1953 by Dr Kenneth Pankhurst, who was the Organist at Egham Parish Church, and first met on November the 5th. Click here for a full list of Past Musical Directors. The first performance was on the 8th of December in the Old Egham Methodist Church. The stated object of the choir since its inception in 1953 is to rehearse and perform choral music aiming to give 2 or 3 concerts a year, at least one being with a full symphony orchestra. The choir’s physical archives are now curated by and held at the Egham Museum.
