We are a long standing choir based in Egham since the 1970s. We perform at least three concerts a year. The spring concert is usually the highlight of our year and the music ranges from Haydn’s Creation to Carl Jenkins’ The Armed Man and the performance is usually distinguished by the addition of professional soloists and musicians. Our summer concert comprises lighter works that may include madrigals or jazz standards. For our Christmas programme we look forward to singing carols and other seasonal music which may include excerpts from works such as Bach’s Christmas Oratorio or Rutter’s Gloria. We try to include a concert for Remembrance when this is possible.
We are a friendly choir and welcome new members to join us. There are no auditions to worry about and someone in each voice part is designated to welcome you and look after you through your first weeks with us.
We are fortunate to retain David Darby over the years. He is a professional pianist and accompanist and has been a stalwart support and advisor over the years.
Our Musical Director, Richard Robbins, has a brilliant musical pedigree and is also a professional singer of some note.
Where and When?
We rehearse on Monday evenings from 7:30pm to 9:30pm – broadly following school terms. The rehearsal venue is the United Church of Egham (UCE), High Street, Egham. UCE is an accessible venue with a ramp and wide doors. There is plenty of parking nearby (free in the evenings), and it is a short walk to Egham rail station.
Feel free to just come along to one of our rehearsals – you can be assured of a warm welcome. If you prefer you could contact any member of the Committee first. Here>>
